Tokitae

After participating in an amazing workshop lead by Bonnie Swift on starting a self-directed project, I knew that Bonnie was onto something and I wanted to be part of any project she was working on. After a back-and-forth of emails, I discovered that a project on whales was in the works - I loved the idea and hoped that I could be part of that project whenever it did materialize. Months later, after having forgotten about it, I wrote an email to Bonnie asking her how she was doing and to check on the status of the project. To my delight, it had started. I was lucky enough to get on the team as a fact-checker! I went down rabbit holes of research on orca whales and found myself very spiritually connected to these beings that I was reading so much about. Two years later, I religiously wear a pendant of an Orca Whale that Bonnie gifted me and treasure it while remembering that I am in the field of Environmental Sciences to help the whales and so many other species much like them.
